Students learn about banking

NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WZZM)- Dozens of third graders from Muskegon Heights have a head start on understanding how to use the bank.  The students from Edgewood Elementary in Muskegon Heights were treated to a tour of the Norton Shores Comerica Bank branch.

It was the bank's way of celebrating national Financial Literacy Month.  The bankers even allowed the students to open the bank vault and watch how large stacks of cash are counted.

Comerica Bank's Regional President Bruce Fox said, "In our role as a community bank we think it is important to help students and others learn about banking and learn about savings, and learn about their own financial affairs."

The bank employees also taught the students how to write and cash checks, as well as how to use a savings account.
