Roosevelt Park man considered a guardian angel for saving woman's life

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM)- A Muskegon woman is calling the man who helped save her life her "guardian angel."  This after a heart condition left Jean Jay slumped over her car's steering wheel for three hours during cold weather.

Jay says when a stent in one of her arteries collapsed it left her weak and unable to drive from the spot she parked near Muskegon Lake.  She attempted to alert passing motorists for help by flashing her lights and honking her horn.  But Jay says no one stopped, leaving her tired and fighting to stay awake.

Jay's "guardian angel" arrived in the form of Raymond Costanzo from Roosevelt Park.  Costanzo and his fiancee were out for a drive and decided to go by the lake.  When he saw the flashing headlights, he too drove by.  But he stopped when he heard the wailing of Jay's car horn.

Try It Before You Buy It: Shout Color Catcher

Muskegon, Mich. (WZZM)-- The new Shout Color Catcher claims the days of separating your clothes in the laundry are over.  With the Color Catcher sheets, you're supposed to be able to wash even reds with whites and the sheets will soak up the dye with no color bleed.

I put it to the test with Muskegon Big Reds head football coach Shane Fairfield.  He says he had the unfortunate experience of having brand new red and white uniforms turn pink.

We washed white t-shirts with new Muskegon Big Reds t-shirts and socks in cold water.  Our white t-shirts did turn a hair pink.  It says to add 2-3 sheets if you have a new garment so I did that, but had the same results.

New website informs partners of sexually transmitted diseases

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - It might be one of the most difficult conversations, telling someone you have a sexually transmitted disease.  The reality is one in five Americans have one and the rates of some continue to climb.

Now there's a new way to let someone know anonymously that they need to be checked, with an e-card.

"A lot of people only know each other through email," said Kathy Hayes with Muskegon Public Health.  She says she's seen an increase in the number of patients using email as a way to engage in casual sex.  She said, "That's the only way they know their partner.  They don't know their name they only know their email."

Problems with automated phone system at Muskegon Co.'s Friend of the Court

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM)- A Muskegon County resident contacted WZZM 13 On Your Side after becoming frustrated with the Muskegon County Friend of the Court's interactive voice response system.

Adam Lawrence of Dalton Township says the system contains a number of mistakes.  Mistakes Lawrence says send callers to the wrong case manager when they enter the extension that corresponds with the first letter of their last name.

Lawrence placed the prompts given on court's voice response system into a spread-sheet.  When that information was matched with a current phone and caseload list from the court around a dozen mistakes were discovered.

Thursday Circuit Court Administrator, and Director of Friend of the Court in Muskegon County Patricia Steele said the phone system is administered by the state.  Steele says the county can only make changes to the system four times a year.
