GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.A group of real estate professionals have come together to create a service that is giving back to those who serve the public in the Grand Rapids area.

"U Deserve" has brought together several professionals who are dedicated to lowering costs associated with buying, selling or refinancing a home for active military members, veterans, firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, health care professionals and educators.

“Growing up with a father who served in the National Guard and as a police officer, I was able to see first-hand how much public service individuals give back to their communities,” said Kevin Wildman, founder of U Deserve.  “U Deserve is a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those individuals.”

U Deserve is partnering with real estate agents, mortgage officers, title companies and home inspection services.  Several organizations already involved include Lake State Mortgage, Vets Title and Searchlight Home Inspection.

“As soon as we heard about this organization, we immediately wanted to get involved,” said Greg Fones, president, Vet Title.  “It’s a great opportunity to give back to the community and the individuals that serve in it everyday.”

Earlier this year, Wildman met with Steve and Melissa Huisman, a couple who both teach EMS certification courses. They told their story of how they were able to save more than $1,000 in their mortgage closing costs alone because of U Deserve. “It’s a program to say thanks to those who serve and it saved us more than a thousand dollars with no strings attached.” said Steve.
