Greater Muskegon Jaycees named Chapter of the Nation | Community Spirit
After a review of over 700 chapters, the Greater Muskegon Jaycees were named the 2011 Harold A. Marks Memorial Award winner as the most outstanding chapter in the nation.
The announcement and presentation of the award was made during the 2011 United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) Year-end awards ceremony, held this week in Des Moines, IA.
"I am very proud of what President Tara Mack and her team accomplished in 2011," said 87th Michigan Jaycee President David Worthams (Kalamazoo). "When the Jaycees talk about building leaders from young professionals, this is what we envision. Young leaders, who are active in their communities, working together to improve the quality of life around them."
The United States Jaycees also announced that the Greater Muskegon Jaycees raised the second most money to support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life program by raising over $10,000, had the best International Area and Individual Development Area programming in the nation.
In addition to being named the best chapter in the United States Jaycees, many individual members of the chapter received honors as well. 2011 chapter Vice Presidents Dani LaFleur and Kari Kidrowski were named among the top 25 local chapter Vice Presidents in the nation.
"I am so proud to call myself a Greater Muskegon Jaycee. We set out to make an impact in our community and make a difference and we did just that. The Greater Muskegon Jaycees have a long history of serving our community and I could not be more proud of what this chapter accomplished in 2011," said Tara Mack.
