MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WZZM) - Muskegon Heights' new charter school district is hiring 125 teachers and support staff.
The Muskegon Heights board of education building opened at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday to welcome applicants. School leaders are holding open interviews until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. Many applicants are former district employees looking to get their jobs back.
Mosiaca Education Inc., a Georgia based company, will manage the new district, called Muskegon Heights Public Charter System. The new system will consist of two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.
The district will have MHSAA-sanctioned sports and other extracurricular programs, including band. Students can also expect longer classroom hours when the academic year starts September 4.
