N. Muskegon students get netbooks |
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM)- Thursday school leaders in North Muskegon had a surprise for every high school student -a new netbook computer. The small but very capable computers were purchased with funds approved by district residents last year. Some of the money was spent to improve technology in the district. The rest of the money purchased more than 300 netbooks.
Student are allowed and encouraged to take the computers home at night. After all it's where they will be doing homework, writing papers, and going on-line to to research.
North Muskegon Superintendent Curt Babcock even believes the day the district no longer uses text books is not that far off.
District leaders wrote a new acceptable use policy to address the emphasis on online learning. Even at home or on vacation online activities are filtered by the district. The technology may even lead to limited instruction on snow days.
