Lake Michigan Art Walk Kicks Off Second Year

 (MUSKEGON, Mich.)-The Lake Michigan Art Walk (LMAW) artists have officially launched their 2011 season at the Bettye Clark-Cannon Gallery, located in the Hilt Building wing of the Frauenthal Performing Arts Center, on Western Avenue in downtown Muskegon. An opening reception to celebrate the commencement of the LMAW's second year will be held on April 15th.

The Lake Michigan Art Walk features works of many talented local artists across many different mediums. Visitors can check out new watercolors, acrylics, and oils from some of the area's most notable painters, including Bryan Snuffer, Taylor Overbey, Charles Schadel, and many more.

Free Sunday seminar for brides to be

Muskegon brides-to-be can learn all about how to plan their upcoming nuptials in a seminar on Sunday, April 17.

The Lake House Waterfront Grill, located at 730 Terrace Point Road, will host the free event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Visitors will get a chance to win door prizes.  Wedding vendors will also be on hand to help make wedding and reception planning fun and affordable.

Jaycees' Eggstravaganza Saturday

Easter may still be days away, but that’s not stopping the Muskegon Jaycees from celebrating the holiday.

The group will hold its “Eggstravaganza” Saturday, April 16 at Ross Park in Norton Shores.  Visitors can enjoy crafts, games and an egg hunt for all ages.  There will also be a collect of Easter baskets for Every Woman’s Place.   The “Eggstravaganza” runs from 1 p.m. through 3 p.m.

Church hosting glow in the dark Easter egg hunt

You don’t have to wait for daylight or Easter to enjoy a holiday tradition.

The Breakwater Church of the Nazarene is hosting a glow in the dark Easter egg hunt on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. The hunt will take place at 1150 Seminole Road in Muskegon; that’s across from Mona Shores High School.

Horse Super Saturday free family fun

The Muskegon Museum of Art is hosting Horse Super Saturday this Saturday, April 9.

As part of the free family friendly event, visitors can watch the film “Racing Stripes” about a racing Zebra.  Show times are at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. From 11 a.m. through 1 p.m., guests can take a guided exhibit tour of historic images of horses.  From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can create their own mixed media horses.

Easter Candy Scramble is April 23 at Delmar Park

The city will be having their Easter candy scramble on Saturday, April 23 at 10:00 AM at Delmar Park (ball fields) located at Glenside and Roosevelt Road. Everybody is invited so we will see you there.

 

Season passes to Michigan's Adventure available

Michigan’s Adventure is processing season passes in the park’s group sales office. 

The office is processing passes Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can still purchase season passes ahead of the park’s reopening. For more information, visit the website for Michigan’s Adventure at http://www.miadventure.com/spass.shtml.

The ride park reopens to the public on May 18.  The water park is scheduled to open May 28.
