Results pending from autopsy on Muskegon County body

The results of Monday's autopsy, performed in Kalamazoo, are still pending -- as is identification of the body.

The mother of a woman who disappeared more than a year ago says she hasn't yet been told whether the body is her missing daughter.

Bobbie Maples went missing in December 2014, shortly after giving birth to her daughter Airyonne. Maples was reported last seen near Whitehall by a friend.

She was reported missing by her mother and friends around 11 days after giving birth at a Muskegon hospital.

Monday, Muriel Maples said her daughter was know to have friends in Fruitland Township, and that one or more may have lived near the location where the body was discovered. Muriel confirmed to WZZM 13 that authorities expressed confidence that the remains are linked to Bobbie.

Police sources confirm a tip from inside the Muskegon County jail lead police to discover the body's location.  Police sources also confirm another individual with knowledge or a connection to the case is serving time on an unrelated conviction.

More information on the case may be released following a Tuesday meeting involving members of the Roosevelt Park Police Department, Michigan State Police, and Muskegon County Prosecutor's office.
