MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) -- The city of Muskegon has completed all of its labor contracts for 2012.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports a two-year pact with police patrol officers was unanimously approved recently by the Muskegon City Commission after being ratified by the Police Officers Labor Council.
City Manager Bryon Mazade says the contract for 2012 and 2013 provides a 1 percent pay increase the first year and 1.5 percent the second year. The 2012 pay increase isn't retroactive but Mazade says union members will receive a $500 lump sum payment as a signing bonus.
Beginning in the fall, Mazade said the city will begin bargaining with the police command unit and the public works and clerical units of the Service Employees International Union
