EGELSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say a Muskegon man who bought the contents of a storage unit found that his purchase included a live hand grenade.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports that the Muskegon man found the grenade inside a handgun case and promptly took it Wednesday afternoon to the fire department in Muskegon County's Egelston Township. A bomb squad was called to dispose of the grenade.
No injuries were reported.
Deputy Chief Dan Willea says the man had the grenade in his car, and showed it to firefighters after telling them he had something they were going to want to see.
Businesses that lease storage space may seize and sell the contents of the units if renters don't fulfill lease terms. Buyers typically don't know what's inside when they bid.
