Muskegon Pet Pantry may close

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM)- After two years of helping families care for their animals, a Muskegon pet pantry may have to shut down.

FOunder Jennifer Stiles said, "I did this because I went to a food pantry and they told me that my animals were a luxury.  And I did it just to prove the lady wrong."

Stiles started the Muskegon Pet Pantry in 2009.  The center offers free pet food for families having trouble making ends meet.  But Stiles says despite the donations of pet food, it is too expensive to run the store in Muskegon and provide for her family.  She says those expenses may force her to close.

"It gives me a reason to get out of bed.  My family enjoys it, it's been a passion since we did our first pet food drive.  I saw the reaction and how thankful some of the people were and it gave me such a boost," said Stiles.
