MUSKEGON, Mich.—Hackley Public Library will celebrate its grand reopening this Friday, May 16.
Patrons are invited for the event, which will include a public open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is aimed at celebrating renovations, repairs and restorations made to the 27,214 sq. ft. facility through The Building of Character campaign. The $1.1 million project included painting and repairing walls, improving restrooms, replacing interior lighting, adding emergency exits and upgrading the children’s library.
Hackley Public Library opened in 1890. The historic building was a gift from lumber baron Charles Hackley to Muskegon Public Schools.
