Oberon release party tour in Muskegon

Oberon release party tour in Muskegon

For this year’s Oberon release, I decided to make the rounds in Muskegon and attend as many different release parties as possible. First stop for the die-hards is the midnight releases, of course, which for this year meant staying up late on a Sunday. Being a work night I was surprised to find familiar faces at my local Buffalo Wild Wings who were happy to join me for some Oberon and wings. Other Michigan beers currently on tap at the Muskegon location include Bell’s Two-Hearted, Founders Dirty Bastard, and Perrin Black Lager.

Grabbin' A Bite Reviews Hibachi Buffet & Grill

Grabbin' A Bite Reviews Hibachi Buffet & Grill

On recent trips through Muskegon we've seen "Coming Soon" signs and then  " Grand Opening" on a new building on Sherman to the east of the expressway off-ramp. It is called the Hibachi Buffet & Grill, and by the name only, we knew this was a place we had to try. Finally, we were able to stop in for lunch to check it out. A quick look around promised an interesting experience.  We were warmly greeted by a hostess as soon as we entered, and we discovered throughout the meal, that at Hibachi Buffet there is no such thing as ignoring their guests! At the hostess desk there is a sign with buffet prices -- $6.95 for lunch and $9.25 for dinner.

Pigeon Hill Brewing Among Muskegon's First Microbreweries On Tap

Downtown Muskegon has its first two microbreweries. Unruly Brewing plans to open this spring in the Russell Block Building, followed by Pigeon Hill Brewing in the Noble Building (500 W. Western Ave.).

Pigeon Hill Brewing carries the name of a sand dune that once graced the Muskegon shoreline and was home to thousands of passenger pigeons. The sand was mined away for industrial purposes and 71 acres is now home to Harbour Towne.

Grabbin' A Bite Reviews Los Amigos in Muskegon

Grabbin' A Bite Reviews Los Amigos in Muskegon

Review of Los Amigos by Mike and Jane of Grabbin' A Bite:

Mike and I were in Muskegon at the Mercy Hospital ER all day with my mother. It was not a fun day, but my brother and sister-in-law suggested taking a break to their favorite restaurant, Los Amigos. Mercy Hospital is just on the west side of US 31 at the Sherman exit; and on the opposite side of the e-way, to the east, are quite a few businesses and strip malls. Tucked back in one of these strip malls is a south-of-the-border gem.

If you like Mexican food, this place is for you. Upon entering you will hear soft musical sounds from Old Mexico. The colors and decor are truly Mexican throughout. We were seated by a young Mexican American woman who handed us a very large menu.
