Muskegon’s new Hank’s Tavern pairs Michigan Beer with Diverse Food Menu for December opening

Muskegon’s new Hank’s Tavern pairs Michigan Beer with Diverse Food Menu for December opening

Veteran Restaurateur Hoby Thrasher promised something new for Muskegon with the new Hank’s Tavern, and on Saturday, December 1st he has delivered. The Henry / Sherman St. location is not new; Previous businesses at this location have included a bank and fast food pizza joint with the short-lived Bonfire restaurant being the most recent tenant. However, this time around Hoby has really outdone himself transforming the building which once felt small and cramped to an expansive and vibrant atmosphere which will be sure to impress anyone familiar with the building’s former occupants.

Recap of Learn to Homebrew Day 2012, MOB style

For the second year in a row, Muskegon Ottawa Brewers have hosted one of the largest Michigan gatherings for the American Homebrewers Association’s “Learn to Homebrew Day.” Once again homebrewers both new and old converged at Eric Hoffman’s Norton Shores home setting up equipment along his driveway and taking over his front yard and bringing along plenty of food and beer to share.

It was a Green Light for The Taste of Muskegon

It was a Green Light for The Taste of Muskegon

The Taste of Muskegon was lively Saturday morning at the opening of Western Avenue to 15 of the City's famed restaurants. People were circling like vultures to decide where to begin their feast. With all of the restaurants bring their best fares it was a decision and a half for all of the patrons.

The organizers did a great job of providing adequate seating areas all along Western Ave. as well as periodically between vendors. I was also impressed at very pleased with the forethought of the recycling containers and the volunteers that were making sure recyclables were making it into the proper receptacle. There was also a shaded and sun area in the Taste Garden where you could purchase samples of over 25 crafted beers and wines. Full pours were available as well once you found the one, or three that fit your taste to perfection.

Hometown deli flavor enters Western Ave neighborhood

Hometown deli flavor enters Western Ave neighborhood

Western Ave is basically the place to be in Muskegon for history, events, nightclubs, basically if something is happening in Muskegon it’s happening on Western Ave. Woody's Just Klassics Deli just seems to be a good fit. If you’re looking for a family friendly atmosphere where you can take the family for a good home-style meal then this is the place to eat at.

I see they had finally opened a while back and decided to pop in and try some of their food and see what all the hype was about and I must say the service was warming, fast and very friendly. I ordered a bowl of Chicken Pot Pie soup. I remember eating Chicken Pot Pies as a kid. I ate the first bowl along with an Italian sub. I must say you get your money’s worth here the subs come with plenty of toppings to fill you up. I ate all that but I couldn’t get over the soup and had to order another bowl.
