Free Sunday seminar for brides to be

Muskegon brides-to-be can learn all about how to plan their upcoming nuptials in a seminar on Sunday, April 17.

The Lake House Waterfront Grill, located at 730 Terrace Point Road, will host the free event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Visitors will get a chance to win door prizes.  Wedding vendors will also be on hand to help make wedding and reception planning fun and affordable.

New store opening in Lakes Mall

Maurices will celebrate its grand opening at the Lakes Mall in Muskegon, with a sale for shoppers.

The clothing store is offering a buy one, get one half off deal.  Shoppers can also register to win one of four $100 shopping sprees.

The grand opening celebration runs from April 9 through April 24

New Strip Mall Stores Finally Revealed

     Fruitport, MI - Speculation has loomed over what stores would occupy the new strip mall currently under construction in Fruitport.  The new mall sits in front of the Meijer store, adjacent to the Meijer gas station at the corner of Harvey Street and Sternberg Road.  Signage for the stores went up during the past week, revealing what stores are coming our way. 

      The stores are Qdoba, Aspen Dental, Verizon Wireless, Gamestop and Great Clips.  Three of the five stores are already located in the Frutiport/Norton Shores area on Harvey Street.  Gamestop  and Verizon Wireless are currently located in The Lakes Mall and Great Clips is located within the Meijer store.  Qdoba has a location on Henry Street in Muskegon.  Aspen Dental is new to the area, with the closest stores located in Holland and Walker.

Muskegon County clerk holding Full Service Saturday

The Muskegon County clerk’s office will open Saturday to serve community needs.  Visitors can file marriage license applications, CCW applications, and take care of birth certificates and passports during the Full Service Saturday.

Full Service Saturday will place at the Central Services Building, 141 E. Apple Avenue, on the second floor, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call (231) 724-6221.

Chamber of Commerce offers workshop to help businesses master social media

The Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce is offering hands-on workshops to help members master social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other popular websites.

Social media experts will walk members through setting up accounts, posting and managing content, ways to generate page interest, linking to feeds, separating your personal and business pages, using other media on your page, and how to grow your fan base.

The two workshops will be held at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on February 8, inside the computer labs at Orchard View Workforce Development Center, located at 2389 East Laketon Avenue in Muskegon.

Buy Local, Think Global program providing discounts for green shoppers

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM)—Those living and visiting Muskegon can get a bag full of discounts and coupons as part of a program promoted by the chamber of commerce.

The Buy Local, Think Global reusable shopping bag discount program is providing 1,000 residents and visitors with a free reusable shopping bag.  They can get exclusive, single use discounts, coupons or promotions from local businesses when they bring their special bag to participating places.
