Tiger Town! Shelby heading to playoffs

Shelby, MI. (WZZM) - The Shelby Tigers have trashed conventional wisdom that the West Michigan Conference is dominated in football by the big three blue teams, Montague, Ravenna and Oakridge.

The purple-clad Tigers stunned two-time defending state champion Montague on its own field 21-14 Friday night in overtime to remain the only team unbeaten in conference play. "Friday night's game was just a tribute to the kids and the hard work that they've put in to this thing over the past couple of years," said fifth-year head coach Lorenzo Rodriguez. "I had some of my former players show up Friday night and come out on the field afterward and I commended them for leading the way and setting an example for this program. It was definitely one of the marquee wins for this program."
