Lumberjacks’ Fall Classic schedule finalized

The Muskegon Lumberjacks’ 2012-13 season continues to take shape, as the United States Hockey League finalized the schedule for its annual Fall Classic talent showcase this week.

All 16 USHL teams will play three exhibition contests apiece in Sioux City, Iowa, from Sept. 19-22. Games will be split between the Tyson Events Center, home of the Sioux City Musketeers, and the nearby IBP Ice Center.

The Lumberjacks will play the defending Western Conference champion Waterloo Black Hawks Thursday, Sept. 20 at the IBP Ice Center at 11 a.m. to kick off the Fall Classic, which is a premier destination for NHL scouts and NCAA coaches to evaluate top USHL talent.

Lumberjacks introduce new logo

Lumberjacks introduce new logo

The Muskegon Lumberjacks, Member Club of the United States Hockey League, announce the debut of a new primary logo.

The freshly-created mark (attached to this email) will be implemented immediately. The new design centers around the award-winning logo introduced by the IHL Lumberjacks in 2008 and used by the third-year USHL club throughout its existence.

While the recognizable stylized lumberjack is in the center of the new logo, the outer edge is a modified version of the popular “saw blade” design the team revealed last season. In the new primary logo, the lumberjack replaces the italicized ‘M’ in the middle of the blade.

“As an organization, we have worked extremely hard to maintain a brand our community can associate with and be proud of,” said Lumberjacks President Tim Taylor. “Therefore, it was important to maintain the lumberjack figure while introducing the saw blade design into the primary mark.”

For the first time, all 16 USHL Member Clubs will play 64 regular season games, four more than in previous years. For their part, the Lumberjacks will play 30 of their 32 home games on Friday or Saturday, which adds up to a very fan-friendly slate.

“We are very excited about all facets of the schedule,” said Lumberjacks President Tim Taylor. “We are confident our fans will embrace the large number of Friday and Saturday night games, and I know our players and coaching staff will appreciate our concerted effort to optimize the road portion of the schedule.”
