Right on schedule: "The Spider Web" is open in Muskegon

From: MDOT

October 29, 2010 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) $2.14 million investment to improve three US-31 Business Route (BR) bridges over the south branch of the Muskegon River in the city of Muskegon is complete and open to traffic.

Locally known as "The Spider Web," this project included the structural rehabilitation and resurfacing of two bridges and the full replacement of the northbound US-31 BR bridge near Getty Street. The project began last March and was scheduled for completion at the end of October. Crews just finished applying pavement markings earlier today and will apply the final surface coating to the barrier walls in spring 2011.

"Due to the large number of connecting ramps at the intersection, the area has certainly earned the Spider Web nickname," said Muskegon Transportation Service Center Manager Tim Judge.

Muskegon Road Work

Milliron between Broadway to Hts Ravenna will be closed starting Monday Oct 18th for resurfacing. Detour signs have been posted.
